The MIKA Bag is worked flat, back and forth, in slipped stitch – linen stitch pattern. The purl side is used as a right side (RS). Comparatively thin needles were chosen for this project to achieve more solid and sturdy structure. Knit it in a vibrant single color, or mix and match your own favorite shades for a striped version. You can also customize it by knitting a matching handle, or add a unique touch with a leather cord or alternative strap.
SIZE – small (medium) 13 x 17 (15 x 20) cm [5.12 x 6.69 (5.91 x 7.87) inches]
GAUGE – 23 sts x 38 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) in slipped stitch on 4 mm needles after washing and blocking.
NEEDLES - Circular needles 4 mm (US 6) (80 cm / 32 in), tapestry needle
YARN - Mohair silk – worked with six strands held together - Tilia by Filcolana / Kid_silk by Drops, etc. (25 g = 210 m (230 yds)
- Single colour - 50 (75) g for the bag and 50 g for a handle. If you choose to knit the medium-sized bag with the matching handle in the same colour – you will need 100 g in total.
- Mixed Mélange – 25 g of Colour A + 25 g of Colour B (50 g of Colour A + 50 g of Colour B) for the bag and 25 g of Colour A + 25 g of Colour B for a handle. If you choose to knit the medium-sized bag with the matching handle in the same mélange color mix – you will need 50 g of Color A + 50 g of Color B in total.
- Colourful leftovers – 50 (65) g for the bag and 35 g for the handle.
